Arts Are Essential is committed to the belief that through performances, concerts, hands-on workshops, residencies, and cultural exchanges, the visual and performing arts can:

Tony Vacca is a musician, percussionist, composer, artist-educator and poet. He has worked in the arts education field for more than 25 years.
My program is based upon using traditional African rhythms and building a band that can work together. We are very rhythmic creatures on a very rhythmic planet in a very rhythmic universe. Rhythm is one of the essential building blocks of life as we know it.
Tony presents 4 residencies – the Science of Sound; The Math of Rhythm;a Hands-on Percussion Ensemble Experience: and the integration of Rhythm, Word and Drum. Some of his teaching objectives include learning the value of teamwork, becoming aware of the connections of polyrhythums, science and math, learning basic rhythms as well as learning to reading music.
